"This play is a testament to my family, a motley group of hard working,
heart-of-gold, simple folk who dedicated their lives to the tarring of
Mother Road.  In these voices, you will hear the laughter & the cries of
lives lost along this treacherous path.  My grandparents were happy to
shut their eyes after lying down a black tongue to stick to the dirt of
the 66 and choking down a can of something to stick to their insides that
most would call awful and wretched.  Purpose:  A sense of being needed by
the spirit of pure adventure.  A calling.  These are things the blue
collars feel as well as the artists...and that is the connection between
our lost sculptor and our family of broken backs."
